Artbeerfest, Caminha

The spectacular Artbeerfest Artbeerfest, held in in the northernmost tip of Portugal, has been fundamental in consolidating our founder Andrew's passion for engaging closely with the many wonderful brewers from across the EU who are part of the event. The organiser, Octavio Costa, and his loyal team put on the most amazing 4 day festival of beer, music, food, dancing, networking and sheer fun for all!   It is mostly attended by the teams from participating breweries and members of the local community who turn out from babies to the elderly to absorb the feel good atmosphere which pervades the event.

In 2019 Beer Without Borders was privileged to represent Artbeerfest's first guest nation, Scotland, pouring some great beers from Tempest, Fyne Ales, 71 Brewing and Vault City. Our team (Matteo, Vanessa, Beccs, Walter & Andrew braved the summer heat in their kilts, while Beccs face painted us with Scottish Saltire flags and Vanessa delighted both locals and visitors by cooking Haggis & Chorizo Viagra pakoras with Tempest beer batter.   The main festival DJ, the charming and talented Rodrigo da Matta, took us all by surprise by mixing in an old Scottish favourite, Andy Stewart's 'Donald where's yer trousers', totally surreal in the hot and Latin ambiance of Artbeerfest!

Many wonderful connections were made, leading to a steady flow of direct imports of wonderful beers from our European friends.    We currently have a selection of great beers from some of Portugal's best Craft Brewers.

Sadly, Covid 19 made Artbeerfest 2020 impossible and again in 2021 it will not be possible to hold a normal festival, but watch this space.....
