craft beer in dumfries & CASTLE DOUGLAS

Beer Without Borders is a Craft Beer project founded by Andrew Pearson in 2018. Following a very enjoyable and productive visit to the spectacular Artbeerfest in Caminha (in the Northern tip of Portugal on the border with Galicia, Spain) Andrew was delighted to make connections with some highly talented artisan craft brewers from around Europe.

Visits followed to other great festivals in Hungary, Spain, Estonia, Sweden, Finland and closer to home in Scotland and the rest of the UK. This inspired him to build bridges between the EU and Scottish beer communities.

Riverside Tap

We opened our first Taproom and Bottle Shop, Riverside Tap, in Dumfries in Spring 2020 followed by our Castle Douglas bottle shop, Galloway Tap, in December 2021.

OUR FOUNDER

ANDREW PEARSON

Beer Without Borders needs to develop a resilient business model in order to support both further development of the project and to offer brewing facilities to enthusiastic new brewers, but its founder, Andrew Pearson, does not intend to make personal financial gain from it.

His motivation is his passion for the project and the pleasure of meeting so many special people while discovering special new beers.

OUR MISSION

In a short period of time we have taken some of the best Scottish craft beers to festivals in Europe and also brought beers, together with their brewers, to Scotland from Spain, Finland, Hungary, Croatia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Estonia and Norway, with many more in the pipeline.

We import directly from the breweries, in close consultation with the brewers themselves in order to ensure that we can offer our customers a broad range of very special beers of all types from across Europe, most of which are not available elsewhere in the UK.
